SUSTAINED DEFIANCE
2025
Sustained Defiance was a creative development supported by NORPA Program - DInner Party At The End Of The World.
It was created in response to, and in reflection of, the devastating 2022 Lismore flood crisis—an event that exposed profound collective vulnerability, resilience, and the human capacity to endure.
Motivated by the idea of how we embody defiance in moments of crisis, it became an exploration into the multitudes of how we might defy, and sustain defiance; through care, through trust, strength, connection, through letting go and ultimately through uniting.
Developed as a duo, we then explored transferring movement and circus onto film, with Poppy Walker. The filmed product became the final part of the development process.
After filming the work, it was projected on the walls of The Joinery, the new home of NORPA.
